Singapore Turf Club

The Singapore Turf, formerly known as the Singapore Sporting Club, was established in 1842.

Before 1960, races were not open to the general public, but this changed, and members of the public were able to attend. Prior to this historic change, only members of the club and horse owners were allowed to enjoy the races.

In 1961 three horse racing clubs in Malaysia joined the Singapore Turf Club in cross-betting.

In 1988 the Singapore Totalisator Board was set up by the Government, and the Bukit Turf Club was appointed as its agent to run racing. But it wasn’t until 1995 when off-course betting services and facilities were introduced, including Telebet, two off-course betting centres and ‘access?hand-held terminals.

In July 2005 a package of benefits was introduced aiming at increasing dividend payouts. These included a lower take-out rate for Win and Place pools for Malaysian and Singapore races; rebates for Win and Place bet pools for Malaysian and Singapore races as well as additional $100,000 injected into Quartet pools with carry-over jackpots for Singapore race meetings. In addition, a horseracing channel was launched over Starhub digital cable TV for the Club's Telebet customers.

The Singapore Turf Club is located at Kranji, and is believed to be the first ISO-certified racecourse in the world!
