MICE facilities in Singapore
- enough or more?

MBS has given assurances to almost double the current space for meetings,
incentives, exhibitions and conventions in Singapore, therefore attracting a
greater share of the business traveler market.
Also, although RWS’s bid focused predominantly on their being a destination for
families, this did not preclude them from incorporating MICE as a major factor
in securing their bid. MICE visitors are
well-known for bringing in gaming revenue and for making significant
contributions to increasing hotel and retail turnover.
However, RWS contributes much more than that. RWS’s 1,600 seat Plenary Hall is
designed such that it can be converted into a conference venue during the day
while in the evenings becoming a major theatre/showcase featuring the production
‘Le Vie?
Furthermore, RWS doesn’t stop at this. As is quickly becoming an industry
standard to an
ever-increasing number of discerning travelers, RWS offers MICE clients the
opportunity to tailor make their experiences. A conference in the morning
followed by a swim with sharks in the afternoon? No problem. A welcome party
surrounded by dinosaurs in ‘The Lost World?at Universal Studios Singapore? Just
make the request. A product launch involving stuntmen and some amazing special
effects? It’s all here. Indoor and outdoor venues can be configured according to
the client’s special demands as RWS promises their clients business as well as
fun!
The three key meeting venues at RWS are: the Plenary Hall with a capacity for
1,600 theatre-style seating, the Ballroom with a 7,300 theatre-style seating
capacity, and 22 Meeting Rooms offering 3,390 seats.

MBS will be able to accommodate 45,000 plus delegates in 110,390 sqm of MICE
floor space whereas RWS will be able to accommodate 12,000 plus delegates in
26,650 sqm of MICE floor space.
MBS’s Exhibition Hall is 41,000 sqm; This is Asia’s largest column-free
Ballroom, capable of welcoming up to 8,000 people in 9,200 sqm, with the Meeting
Room Complex coming in at around 48,000 sqm.
As noted above, it must be kept in mind that the RWS MICE space, unlike MBS’s
contains indoor as well as outdoor venues. This means that the 26,650 sqm
available MICE floor space at RWS is easily doubled by using the two venues
simultaneously.
MICE space between the two IRs stands at around 137,000 sqm, capable of
accommodating 57,000 plus delegates when combined. This practically doubles the
MICE facilities currently available in Singapore.
MICE facilities at MBS will be conveniently located on 5 levels inside MBS’s
second biggest building, Dome 3, located right next to Bayfront MRT station. The
MICE building will be directly connected to the station, offering the greatest
convenience. The column-free ballroom is also located in this building offering
attendees fantastic views of the city.
Already known for its business-friendly atmosphere, Singapore now enters its new
stage of evolution. The IRs will offer state-of-the-art facilities such as
broadband, satellite, LAN and wireless network throughout the property as well
as dedicated lines in all meeting rooms.
The extra MICE created by the IRs will complement Singapore's position as a
business-oriented and family-friendly destination very well.
Both IR MICE venues are located within a 20-30 minute drive from world’s number
1 airport: Changi. This strengthens Singapore’s position as a major hub for both
business and recreational visitors to South East Asia.
